JVP Speaks Of Mass Movement To Apply Pressure On Next President

November 23, 2014

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that his party will be working to defeat President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the next presidential election but will not limit their work after the election is concluded.

Speaking at "Satana" talk show on Sirasa TV yesterday evening, he said that the JVP will work towards creating a new mass movement which will defeat the president and then act as a pressure group, urging the newly elected leader to abolish the Executive Presidency.

Describing President Rajapaksa’s rule as a ‘hateful dictatorship,’ the JVP leader said that his party has already planned its rallies and other programs to make the public aware of the party's position. Dissanayake said it would then be up to the voters to make their own decisions regarding how they vote.
