Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that at present, the parliament has been swallowed up by the treasury.
Speaking at the 'Satana' political talk show on Sirasa TV last evening, he said that the finances of the country is governed not by the parliament but by the Minister of Finance, who is President Mahinda Rajapaksa himself.
Therefore, there is no battle between the treasury and the parliament as the latter has been reduced to an entity with no influence, he said.
Dissanayake added that corruption has grown into serious proportions and the president must be aware of that. If he has files, it means that he has information about the rogues, Dissanayake added further.
He asked as to why such information is still being withheld.
