Sri Lankan Air Force Plane Crashes In Hokandara

An Antonov-32 aircraft belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force has crashed at about 6.15am today in the Hokandara, Athurugiriya area.

Four people have been confirmed dead while one airforce office has been hospitalized with burn and head injuries. He was transferred from Sri Jayawardenapura Hospita to General Hospital, Colombo.

The plane had crash landed to a rubber estate in the Wanaguru Mawatha in Hokandara, Athurugiriya.

Kotte Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and the fire was doused.

It was reported that a roof of a nearby house was also damaged. However, no residents have been hurt.

The public have been converging into the area and have started to douse the fire to their ability.
