UPFA North Western Provincial Councilor Ashoka Wadigamangawa has joined the Common Opposition to support the candidature of Maithripala Sirisena.

Wadigamangawa, who was previously a member of the United National Party, later crossed over to the United People's Freedom Alliance.

He also held a ministerial portfolio at the North Western Provincial Council.His name was also mentioned as a Chief Minister hopeful before the last North Western Provincial Council election.

Wadigamangawa was the first member of the North Western Provincial Council to cross over to the opposition following the announcement of presidential election.
