Commemoration of Lasantha Wickrematunge and other journalists who were murdered and disappeared over the past few years will be held today in Colombo Fort at 4.30pm.

The event is organized by action Committee for Media Freedom whose convener is Saman Wagaarachchi, former Editor in Chief of Lakbima.

A large number of journalists, representatives of civil organizations and media organizations will also attend the event.

The event coincides with the sixth death commemoration of Lasantha Wickrematunge, former Editor of Sunday Leader, who was murdered on January 08, 2009.

The presidential election this year falls on the sixth death anniversary of the slain journalist.
