Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera slammed former president Mahinda Rajapaksa for claiming that BBS is a Western-backed conspiracy to alienate the Muslim community against him.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Gnanasara Thera said that the former president must produce evidence to prove his statement.
“He said he has many files with details of everyone. He can use those files to prove the allegations against us, if he has any,” Gnanasara Thera said.
The BBS General Secretary also claimed that Rajapaksa’s is not entirely his voice but that of the people he deals with these days. Many of them have no true love towards the country or Sinhala Buddhists, he stressed. Furthermore, they have some personal issues with BBS CEO Dilantha Withanage, revealed Gnanasara Thera, adding that it is a primary reason for the mudslinging campaigns against BBS.
Although Rajapaksa is now ‘moaning’ over his defeat, Gnanasara Thera said that BBS did not advise him to call a presidential election two years prior to the scheduled date.
Everyone is now complaining about the minority votes they lost because of BBS, but no one speak of the Sinhala Buddhist votes Rajapaksa gained because of the organization, Gnanasara Thera stated.
“There is an old Sinhala saying ‘kala hoda passen elawanawa’. I think that is what happened to us” he said.
In a recent interview with AFP, former president Rajapaksa said that he had finally came in to the sense that BBS was a result of a western conspiracy against him.
"I lost the election partly because minority Muslims ditched me thanks to the work of the BBS." the former president said.
