Tamil Progressive Alliance leader Mano Ganesan said that the party leaders will meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this afternoon to discuss possible alliance with the UNP.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Ganesan said that the TPA had not taken a final decision on the matter. The party expects to meet President Maithripala Sirisena to discuss the election tomorrow, he further said.
Ganesan added that the Central Committee will meet and take a final decision before July 6.
However, leader of the Upcountry People's Front, V. Radhakrishnan, said on Wednesday that it will contest the election with the UNP. The UPF is a constituent party of the TPA. Ganesan said that it was a premature announcement and discussions are still ongoing.
