UPFA General Secretary susil Premajayantha released a statement saying that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa will be given nominations from the UPFA to contest the next general election.

The statement, released a short while ago, said that the nomination lists will be completed over the next few days.

Premajayantha also stated that the UPFA Election Operations Committee will launch the election campaign with the involvement of all major parties.

He added that the SLFP, UPFA and other progressive forces hope to create a broad popular front to win the upcoming general election.
