Cabraal Rules Out Possibility Of Contesting Election

Former Governor of Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal ruled out the possibility of contesting the forthcoming general election, saying that he is not seeking election to parliament.

Updating a statement of Facebook, Cabraal said that there will be "excellent candidates to choose from in the UPFA list led by MR" (Mahinda Rajapaksa) to vote for on August 17.

Furthermore, Cabraal added that he was willing to serve in an administration led by former President Rajapaksa in a suitable capacity.

Cabraal was the Governor of Central Bank from July 2006 until the end of Rajapaksa's presidency in January this year. He is being criticized by his opponents for alleged mismanagement of the economy.
