Jathika Hela Urumaya General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the party has decided to leave the UPFA.

 

He announced this decision at a press conference held in Colombo today. Ranawaka further said that the JHU Central Committee decided to contest the election as a new front.

 

This decision was taken following the granting of nomination by UPFA to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

 

Speaking at a public rally yesterday, Ranawaka said that the JHU will not compromise the fight for good governance.

 

The JHU has already initiated discussions with some other parties on contesting the election as a new front.
