The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna General Secretary Tilvin Silva on Sunday described the President’s decision to grant nomination for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa under the UPFA ticket as the ‘greatest betrayal’ in the recent past.
Tilvin Silva made this observation at a press conference held in Colombo.
President Maithripala Sirisena has betrayed the public, especially, those who voted for him at the January polls, Tilvin Silva said. He pointed out that those who voted for Sirisena did not have private objectives. They voted to end the family rule of Rajapaksa, Silva said.
Furthermore, he pointed out that Sirisena also betrayed his allies who assisted him to become President at the January election.
