Prasanna Ranatunga Says Rajapaksa Has Alternatives If Not Given UPFA Nomination

If Mahinda Rajapaksa is not given nominations from the United People's Freedom Alliance, his supporters have already prepared alternatives, Central Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.

Speaking to a local TV station this morning, Ranatunga said that those who supported Rajapaksa's political comeback had planned for any eventuality.

Rajapaksa was rumored to be considering several political parties as possible alternatives to contest the election, if he is not given nominations from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. Mahajana Eksath Peramuna and Sri Lanka National Force were rumored to be two parties that were considered.

Meanwhile, the recently renamed Our Sri Lanka Freedom Front is also rumored to be a possible alternative.
