Danuna Tillakaratne today announced that he will contest the upcoming general election under the Democratic Party led by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.

Tillakaratne has been assigned the organizational work in Colombo East.

He stated that he intends to build up on the vote base the party currently has. In the 2010 election, the party received 98,000 votes from Colombo District, he recalled.

Tillakaratne was earlier married to the eldest daughter of Sarath Fonseka.
