The highest rainfall recorded over the past few hours was reported from Maliboda in the Kegalle District, which received 103.5 millimetres of rain, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Delwala Tea Factory area in the Galle District recorded 93.5 millimetres of rainfall, while 87.5 millimetres was reported from the Gurudiyapotha Tea Factory area.
Meanwhile, Naboda in the Kalutara District received 83 millimetres of rainfall.
The Department of Meteorology has warned of further heavy rainfall in several parts of the country due to active south-west monsoon conditions.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The Department warned that some areas could receive heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimise risks associated with heavy rain and thundershowers.
