The Registrar of the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been remanded until 6 October.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order today (2) after considering submissions made by the Bribery Commission when the case was taken up.

The Registrar was reportedly arrested on allegations of aiding and abetting the acceptance of a bribe in connection with an incident involving the wife of Sarana Gunawardena, who is alleged to have offered a bribe in an attempt to secure a reduction of her husband’s prison sentence.
