A Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) member of the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha, Amit Chathuranga, also known as “Batapola Nindane Chutte,” has been remanded until July 13 after being arrested over the alleged illegal possession of a firearm.
The suspect was produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court today (12), following which the court ordered that he be remanded until tomorrow (13).
He was arrested yesterday (11) by the Galle Divisional Crimes Unit in connection with the alleged unlawful possession of a repeater-type firearm.
