The inventory book of the Speaker’s official residence has reportedly gone missing, the bungalow’s manager, Pasan Athukorala, has informed the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
Mr. Athukorala stated that the parliamentary staff officer responsible for maintaining the inventory book had informed him that the document was no longer in his possession, according to sources familiar with the Commission’s proceedings.
The bungalow manager was questioned for nearly five hours by CIABOC over alleged corruption and irregularities surrounding the provision of the official residence to Speaker Dr Jagath Wickramaratne.
He appeared before the Commission this morning following a notice issued to him.
The Commission had previously instructed Chinta Bulathsinghala, Deputy Director (Administration) of Parliament, to direct the bungalow manager to appear before its Special Investigations Division along with the relevant documents.
The Commission had also requested all records relating to the Speaker’s official residence, including employee records and documents concerning electricity, water and other payments.
