Sri Lanka and Thailand have agreed to expedite arrangements for a mutual visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports, following a meeting between Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath and Thailand’s Acting Foreign Minister Sarun Charoensuwan in Bangkok.
The proposed arrangement is expected to ease travel and boost tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The two ministers also discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, labour mobility, education, maritime security and cultural exchanges.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening longstanding Sri Lanka–Thailand relations and advancing practical cooperation for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
