Sugeeshwara Bandara, a former private secretary to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has been arrested by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged receipt of salaries from two state institutions simultaneously.
Police said Bandara was taken into custody as part of a probe into claims that he had drawn salaries from two government entities during the same period.
The arrest was made by officers attached to the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau, which is conducting investigations into the matter.
