Revenue generated from vehicle imports has declined significantly since the beginning of this month, Sri Lanka Customs said.
Customs Media Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa told a media briefing today (26) that vehicle imports had fallen considerably following the Government’s decision to extend the import surcharge for another three months.
He said vehicle imports were unlikely to return to the levels recorded at the beginning of the year.
As a result, Customs expects revenue from vehicle imports to decline further in the coming months, Punchihewa added.
