Sri Lanka Bowl In 24-over Match

Sri Lanka won the toss and are bowling first in a 24-over ODI, after rain delayed play by more than four-and-a-half hours. The pitch in Nelson was expected to take a little turn, but with the Duckworth-Lewis method expected to play a role, Angelo Mathews chose to have his team chasing again, as they had successfully done on Thursday.

Brendon McCullum remained unavailable for New Zealand, who made two changes to their XI. Tim Southee, who was ruled out of the series with injury, and Doug Bracewell were replaced by Matt Henry, who took eight wickets in the first two games of the series, and Ish Sodhi, the legspinner.

Sri Lanka brought in allrounder Thisara Perera to replace fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep. It is thought Perera's batting could be of value in the shortened match.

More rain was forecast for Nelson later in the afternoon. The game's local start-time is now 3:40pm.
