Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar and India openers Shikhar Dhawan visited Sri Lanka's iconic Buddhist Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, recently.  Members of the Indian cricket team and their families were spotted all over the island during the tour. The Indian cricket team, led by skipper Virat Kohli, hoisted the tricolour flag in Kandy on to celebrate Independence Day in mid-August.

The India tour of Sri Lanka started at the end of July 2017 and  the team performed significantly to win the three-match Test series 3-0. Team India has now won the five-match ODI series as well with three consecutive victories.
