Sri Lanka Army’s power-lifter, Private K.K.H Dilhara of 8 Corps of Engineer Services (CES), competing in the 5th Commonwealth Power-lifting Championship Tournament, held at Potchefstroom, North West of South Africa during 10 - 17 September, 2017 did well in the 83 kg category and won 3 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and a Bronze medal for overall performance.
National Federation of Body-Building, Weightlifting and Power-Lifting with the consent of the Commander of the Army picked Private K.K.H Dilhara of the Army to represent the country in the said South Africa’s Tournament in close coordination with the Army Body-Building, Weightlifting and Power-Lifting Committee under the Directorate of Sports in the Army.
Private K.K.H Dilhara during this international event won the Gold medal in (83 kg category), a Gold medal in heavyweight category (Scot System), a Gold medal in Bench System, a Silver medal in Deadlift System and a Bronze medal as the Best Power-lifter in the overall championship tournament.
Several prominent members of the Sri Lankan community and officials of the Sri Lankan Embassy in South Africa met the winner personally soon after the tournament and extended their congratulations and best wishes on his achievements.
