Asian Body Building Competition In Sri Lanka

48th Asian Body Building championship 2014 will be held on June 19 to 22 at Colombo with the participation of 220 competitors from 29 countries.

This will be a turning point of Body Building industry of Sri Lanka.

For the promotions of this program, organizers have planned to do a free walk named Fit’N Fun 2014 starting from March 10.

 This was revealed at a press conference held at Kingsbury Hotel ball room on Thursday under the patronage of Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage and with the participation of Asian Federation of Body Building and Fitness ( AFBB ) assistant general secretary Tariq Ali Omer Ahmed of Baharain.

Minister Aluthgamage addressing the gathering thanked the AFBB for granting the tournament to Sri Lanka and assured the ministry’s best support to make the event a success. He also noted that it is common to have various parties with different views in any sports body but to achieve target and to develop the sport a united effort is a must.

He requested the SLBBFF president to get the support of all parties to spread the sport throughout the island. The minister also explained the importance of initiating new sports clubs in this aspect.


Speaking on the occasion Sri Lanka Body Building and Fitness Federaton (SLBBFF ) president K H Kapila Kumara said that after 32 years the event is hosted by Sri Lanka and it is a great achievement by SLBBFF with the support of the sports minister.
