Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to permit off-spin bowler Sachitra Senanayake to play in the local Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) League despite the fact that he is still undergoing measures to correct his bowling action.
Senanayake was banned from playing in June this year after the Sri Lankan tour of England where he was reported to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a suspect bowling action.
A statement by Sri Lanka cricket has said that according to an ICC ruling, Senanayake is able to play in domestic tournaments under supervision of Sri Lanka Cricket.
“With regard to the corrective measures taken in consultation with the experts at the University of Western Australia, Sachitra has shown tremendous improvement and is in the process of having extensive training with the local coaching staff”, the statement also said.
