Kenya Women's Cricket Captain Dies Of Leukemia

Emily Ruto, the Kenya women's captain, died on October 24 in a hospital in Nairobi. She was 25 years old and had been battling leukemia.

"Emily has always been the rock of the national team and as the captain she made sure that all the players in the team gave their best in every game," Cricket Kenya said in its condolence message. "Losing Emily at a young age is a very sad moment for all of us as we think of the wonderful times we have all spent with her not only as a cricket player but also as a friend and a person."
