Nepal, Sri Lanka Advance To SAFF Women's Champions Semis

Nepal has advanced to the semi-finals of the third South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship 2014, as Group B winners, on Sunday, November 16, 2014.

Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in its last group-stage match held Sunday at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan. Anu Lama scored two goals while Niru Lama added one goal, sealing Nepal's victory.

Nepal had hammered Bhutan with an eight goal lead (against nil) in its first match and beat Pakistan 2-0 in its second match. Following the three consecutive victories, Nepal has topped the Group B score chart with 9 points. Sri Lanka has also secured a berth in the semis with six points, the second highest, in the group.

Pakistan and Bhutan have crashed out of the tournament as they landed on the bottom two spots in the Group B score table.

Meanwhile, Nepal and Sri Lanka have to wait for the Group-A match results scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2014. The results of that day will decide the semis fixtures.

Group A topper India will take on Afghanistan while Bangladesh will face Maldives in their last group stage matches.
