Tilakaratne Dilshan has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for excessive appealing during the first ODI against England, while Thisara Perera has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for a separate incident. Both players admitted to the Level 1 breaches of the ICC code of conduct.
Dilshan's breach had occurred in the 30th over of England's innings, when he struck Moeen Ali on the pad as the batsman attempted to sweep. The raucous appeal from Dilshan was quickly turned down by umpire Simon Fry, but the bowler appeared to continue his appeal. Dilshan was fined for the same breach during last year's Champions Trophy.
Perera's breach relates to article 2.1.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with conduct that is either: "(a) is contrary to the spirit of the game; or (b) brings the game into disrepute". Perera had directed aggressive words at a departing Joe Root after dismissing the batsman in the 18th over of England's innings.
The charges had been levelled by on-field umpires Fry, Ruchira Palliyaguruge, third umpire Steve Davis, and fourth umpire Raveendra Wimalasiri. Match referee David Boon had imposed the sanctions.
The maximum fine for a Level One offence is 50 per cent of the player's match fee.
