Guptill, Rain Save Black Caps From Humiliation In WC Warm-Up

February 09, 2015

A century to Martin Guptill was the highlight of a shoddy New Zealand batting effort in their rain-interrupted pre-World Cup hit-out against Zimbabwe at Lincoln today.

The Black Caps scored 157-7 from 30.1 overs before the match was abandoned, with Guptill bringing up three figures from 85 balls.

He fell shortly afterwards without adding to his score , having played a lone hand as New Zealand's batting order crumbled around him.

Ross Taylor (11) was the only other batsman to reach double figures, Tinashe Panyangara and Elton Chigumbura taking two wickets each.

"Little bit of confidence a little bit of time in the middle as well. Haven't had the scores this summer what I wanted so far so it was nice to be out in the middle and hitting a few out of the middle and hitting a few gaps," Guptill said.
