Yuvraj Singh Takes A Dig After Gautam Gambhir Breaks His Bat

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir is usually poised and composed at the crease. But on Wednesday as the IPL defending champions chased 169 versus Mumbai Indians, the elegant left-handed batsman suffered an 'oops' moment when his bat was broken into half. Gambhir charged down the crease to hit Vinay Kumar over covers off his very first ball and his willow snapped.

Vinay and Gambhir were once teammates at KKR while the man at the other end, Robin Uthappa plays with Vinay for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. There was some serious cricketing connection there. So much so that Yuvraj Singh, who has been snapped up by Delhi Daredevils took a dig at Gambhir on Twitter.

'Now that actually looks like @GautamGambhir size bat ! #IPL2015' Singh tweeted.

Gambhir had started off his IPL career with the Daredevils.

Gambhir and Yuvraj, good friends, have been discarded from the Indian team and stay in Gurgaon. The tweet was of course a friendly banter but the episode could set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Yuvraj is known for his wry humour while Gambhir has been in trouble for his ill-tempered flare-ups in the past. Two years back, he was involved in a fracas with Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper and fellow Delhi player Virat Kohli.

However, on Wednesday, Gambhir had the last laugh, smashing a 43-ball 57 to script a seven-wicket win for the Knight Riders.

Gambhir has led the Knight Riders to lift the IPL trophy twice; in 2012 and 2014.
