The team of Japanese experts landed in Sri Lanka yesterday and began their initial inspection of the Meethotamulla dumpsite.
The team of experts is composed several specialist in various aspects related to urban infrastructure.
Only ten of the thirteen-member team is in Sri Lanka at the moment, three others are due to arrive shortly.
The teams will conduct a through inspection and evaluation of the Meethotamulla dumpsite and provide solutions to Sri Lanka’s garbage dumping problem.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised Sri Lanka a team of experts when news of the Meethotamulla tragedy reached him while Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was in Japan on an official state visit.
