Just hours before the debate on the no-confidence motion, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe appears to be in the driving seat as all key minority parties have pledged support to him.
The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, a member of the ruling alliance, announced last night that it would back the Prime Minister.
The Tamil National Alliance, the largest Tamil party in the North, has also decided to back the Prime Minister. The party has already conveyed its inclination to vote for Wickremesinghe during a meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday.
The political parties led by Mano Ganesan and Rishad Bathiudeen will also vote in support of the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the EPDP, the party led by Former Minister Douglas Devananda is likely to abstain from voting.
