Maithri Takes Clear Lead In Presidential Polls

Common Candidate of the opposition has taken a clear lead against his Opponent President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the presidential election with a percentage of 53.4.
Official results of 18 polling divisions have now been released by the Elections Department along with postal votes results of 17 districts.

Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena has so far obtained 668900 votes while President Mahinda Rajapaksa has obtained 525521 votes.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa's overall percentage now stands at 45.2.
