Former leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe joined the 'Joint Opposition' rally at Hyde Park a short while ago.

Amarasinghe, who left the JVP in April 2015 to found a new party, pledged his support to the Rajapaksa camp later in the year.

Amarasinghe justified his move by saying that he joined the anti-imperialist and anti-UNP camp and criticized the present JVP leadership for following the directives of the UNP.
