National Freedom Front leader Wimal weerawansa today claimed that the Salawa Army Camp was destroyed by the government on purpose so that it could destroy the weapon stocks of the Sri Lanka Army.

Speaking at a public rally in Beliatta in Hambantota District, Weerawansa said Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake said that excess weapons will be destroyed, a day after the Salawa disaster. The shells of heavy weapons stocked in Veyangoda were dropped to the deep seas off the coast of Trincomalee, Weerawansa said.

He also said that the government was undermining national security according to instructions of the western countries.
