Three Arrested With Foreign Currency Notes Worth Rs 166 Million

Three suspects including two women were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early this morning for attempting to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs 166 million out of the country.

The currency notes, which included included Euros, Kuwaiti Dinar, Saudi Riyal and Omani Rial, were found concealed in the bottom of two bags which were inside the baggage of a woman. She was preparing to board Dubai-bound Qatar Airways flight QR-69 at 3.25 a.m. today.

The other individuals were preparing to board the plane with her. They were all detained by the Customs.
