Lak Sathosa Former Chairman Remanded Over Vehicle Misuse

Former Chairman of Lak Sathosa Nalin Fernando was remanded till July 28 by Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today over the alleged misuse of state vehicles.

He is allegedly involved in using Sathosa vehicles for the 2015 Presidential Election campaign. He is accused of transporting election related documents to Gampaha from the SLFP Headquarters and incurring a loss of Rs 37,888 to the government.

Fernando is charged under the Public Properties Act.

He informed court that he is willing to plead guilty for the charge.

He was arrested earlier in the day by the Colombo Crime Division.
