September 05, 2016

Malaysian IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told the 'New Straits Times' that the police are tracking down the perpetrators of the assault on Sri Lankan High Commissioner Ibrahim Sahib Ansar.

He was assaulted yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after sending off Minister of Primary Industries Daya Gamage.

Gamage had attended the International Conference of the Asian Political Parties in the Malaysian capital.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa also attended the meeting. His visit to Kuala Lumpur drew protests by pro-LTTE groups. A Buddhist monk was also assaulted by pro-LTTE groups near his temple on an earlier occasion.
