The Minister of Power and Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated that the power cuts, originally planned for three and a half hours per day, will be imposed only for one and a half hours.

Accordingly, a one hour power cut will be imposed during the day and a half an hour power cut will be imposed at night.

The power cuts were imposed due to repair work at the Norochcholai power plant.
