Sri Lanka Customs says the country’s expected revenue for this year could be achieved within the next two days.

Customs Director Chandana Punchihewa stated yesterday (9) that on 6 November, the department recorded Rs. 27.7 billion in a single day — the highest daily revenue in the history of Sri Lanka Customs.

Speaking further, Punchihewa said the previous record of over Rs. 24 billion in a single day had been set on 15 October 2025. “On 6 November, we collected Rs. 27.7 billion in a single day, marking the highest daily revenue in the department’s history. Our annual tax target is Rs. 2.115 trillion, and as of on Saturday (8), we have collected a total of Rs. 2,066.7 billion. By next Wednesday, we are likely to meet the annual target and may even surpass it,” he added.
