Former Parliamentarian Premalal Jayasekara, also known as “Choka Malli,” has been arrested by Sri Lanka Police in Nuwara Eliya.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson’s Office, he was taken into custody over allegations of threatening to kill and intimidating individuals by brandishing a firearm during a dispute between two groups.

Police further stated that the licence of the firearm found in his possession had expired at the time of the arrest.

Nuwara Eliya Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
