Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who inquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery during his recent health setback.

In a special statement, Wickremesinghe said he had received an overwhelming number of telephone calls and messages as soon as news of his illness became known.

He also expressed special appreciation for the all-religious observances held across the island to pray for his recovery.

Wickremesinghe said the support shown by citizens of Sri Lanka had given him great strength and encouragement during the period of illness.

He further noted that members and supporters of the United National Party had taken every possible step on his behalf.

“I deeply appreciate the care and concern shown towards me and extend my heartfelt gratitude,” he said.
