The Sri Lankan government has established a Dengue Operations Room to strengthen coordination and response efforts aimed at controlling the spread of dengue across the country.
The facility will function as a central hub for information gathering and dissemination, providing updates on dengue outbreaks, facilitating the reporting of mosquito breeding sites, issuing guidance to government officials and volunteers engaged in control activities, and assisting journalists seeking information on the disease.
Authorities said members of the public can obtain information by contacting the operations room on 011-7 966 366 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays.
The move comes as health authorities intensify dengue prevention measures amid a rapid increase in cases during the ongoing southwest monsoon season.
