Former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Millaniya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) member Ravindra Rammuni has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for defaming National People’s Power (NPP) MP Nilanthi Kottahachchi on social media.

The arrest took place this morning (3 December) at Rammuni’s residence in Anguruwathota.

Rammuni had posted content on Facebook a few days ago that included gender-discriminatory remarks targeting Kottahachchi. The post was later deleted.

MP Kottahachchi subsequently filed a complaint with the CID regarding the defamatory and discriminatory posts.
