The Dinana Dakuna organisation has filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against all 159 parliamentarians elected from the National People’s Power (NPP).
The organisation alleged that the MPs had deposited allowances granted as parliamentary privileges into a bank account belonging to the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna instead of using them for their intended purpose of serving the public.
It claimed that the alleged conduct constituted an offence under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 and requested an expedited investigation.
The complaint, submitted to the Bribery Commission this morning (2), sought an investigation under five grounds. It also requested the Commission to summon all 159 NPP MPs to record statements and examine the party’s bank accounts.
