The highest score in the Sinhala medium at the 2026 Grade Five Scholarship Examination was 193 marks, recorded from the Kurunegala District.
Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage disclosed this during a special media briefing held at the Department of Examinations on Wednesday (2).
The highest score in the Tamil medium was 188 marks, recorded from the Jaffna District.
A total of 1,018 students with special needs sat for this year’s examination, including 18 candidates who answered the examination in Braille.
The cut-off mark for this year is 139, with 56,000 students scoring above that threshold.
The examination was held on August 9, with 294,132 candidates registered. Of them, 289,867 sat for the examination.
The deadline for submitting applications for the re-scrutiny of results will be announced later, the Commissioner General added.
