The popular musical storytelling concert series ‘Akasa Suthra’ is set to take place in Badulla on November 28, with its latest edition scheduled to be held at the Namunukula Open Air Theatre of Uva Wellassa University.
The concert, which begins at 6.00 p.m., will mark another chapter in the series created by author Rasika Jayakody, bringing its distinctive combination of music and storytelling to the scenic surroundings of the Namunukula mountain range.
The upcoming performance will feature Soorya Dayaruwan, Miyuru Somarathne, Midori Karunaratne and Nelka Thilini, while Jayakody will lead the narrative segments. Nuwan Gammampila will serve as the compere.
Announcing the event, Jayakody described the Badulla concert as the most distinctive edition of ‘Akasa Suthra’ so far, citing the unique setting of the open-air theatre.
The concert series, which explores themes of love, life, relationships and human emotions through music and narration, has attracted considerable public interest since its inception.
Previous editions have been staged at several prominent venues, including Arcade Independence Square, Bishop’s College Auditorium, Ananda College Auditorium and Temple Trees Auditorium in Colombo.
The decision to stage the latest concert in Badulla represents an effort to take the series beyond its traditional Colombo audience and reach music enthusiasts in other parts of the country.
Organisers have also introduced travel arrangements under the ‘Akasa Bus’ initiative for concertgoers travelling from Colombo.
The November 28 performance is expected to offer a different atmosphere from previous editions, with the open-air setting providing a natural backdrop for the evening’s musical performances and storytelling.
Tickets for the concert are currently on sale, with further details available through the official ‘Akasa Suthra’ social media channels.
