The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) is calling for experienced lawyers to join a newly established pool aimed at providing legal services for victims of child abuse. This initiative, set to launch in 2025, is part of the NCPA’s ongoing efforts to protect children’s rights and ensure that those affected by abuse receive proper legal representation, newly released statement of the NCPA said.

Accordingly, lawyers with at least 10 years of professional experience and a background in appearing before Magistrate’s or High Courts are invited to apply. The services will be provided on a pro bono basis, with all professional and transportation expenses to be borne by the lawyers themselves. Applicants must also pledge strict confidentiality regarding case details and services provided.

Interested candidates are required to specify the court jurisdictions in which they are available to provide services. Applications should be submitted to chairman@childprotection.gov.lk no later than 30 January 2025, the NCPA stated.
