More information has been revealed regarding the recent vehicle shooting incident in Mattakkuliya.

According to police, the vehicle belonged to a businessman and was occupied by his pregnant wife and mother. The businessman had stepped away briefly for some work, while the two women remained inside the vehicle, which was parked near a hotel on Kotahena Road.

During this time, an unidentified individual stole the vehicle with the two women still inside.

A police team from Mattakkuliya Police, who were in the area on an unrelated investigation, arrived at the scene. When they ordered the suspect to stop the vehicle, he refused to comply. As a result, one police officer opened fire.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.
