Maldives has officially prohibited the entry of Israeli passport holders into the country. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu ratified the Third Amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act on 15 April 2025, following its approval by the People’s Majlis.

This amendment adds a new provision to the Immigration Act, explicitly barring individuals holding Israeli passports from entering Maldivian territory. The government stated that this decision reflects its firm stance against the ongoing atrocities and acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.

The Maldives reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of the Palestinian people. The nation continues to advocate for accountability for violations of international law and remains vocal in its condemnation of Israel’s actions across various international platforms.

President Muizzu has consistently reiterated the Maldives’ principled support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with relevant United Nations resolutions and international legal norms.
